Ever wonder why the universe is filled with stuff and how it got to be this way? Well, this is the course for you. We'll cover the Big Bang, relativity, cosmic dynamics, baryon evolution, and the dark sector. By the end, you'll know more about how we got here than anyone living more than a few decades ago, assuming we're right this time. And you'll know some of the math!
All course requirements are given in the syllabus, which should be referenced for all expectations and policies of the class. The primary resource for the course is the textbook Introduction to Cosmology, 2nd edition, by Barbara Ryden. Current price there appears to be just shy of $50 (new). The textbook is also (automatically) available through inclusive access (in Canvas, click on the Bookshelf link in the navigation bar). I'm a fan of the textbook and recommend purchasing a physical copy if that's feasible, but the inclusive access content (as well as the content in the first edition or a PDF copy of that version you may be able to find online). The inclusive access version is great while you wait for an ordered textbook to arrive -- just be sure to opt out before the deadline so you're not charged for it through course fees.
